Why is SUSS MicroTec stock sliding today?

SUSS MicroTec stock fell 10.4% to trade at €46.90 after the company released an ad-hoc disclosure this morning announcing the permanent closure of production at its Garching headquarters and a material downgrade to its fiscal year 2026 financial outlook.

The board resolved, with supervisory board approval, to concentrate all manufacturing at its sites in Zhubei, Taiwan and Sternenfels, Germany, ending equipment and module production in Garching and affecting roughly 70 employees.

Alongside the restructuring, the company flagged a tightening supply situation for certain components, which is expected to defer a portion of revenues into fiscal year 2027.

The revised guidance was the sharpest blow to investor sentiment: full-year 2026 revenue is now expected in a range of €405–425 million, down from the prior range of €425–485 million, while the EBIT margin target was cut to 5–7% from 8–10%.

One-off restructuring charges are estimated at approximately €6.2 million in total, with around €4.5 million expected to be booked in the current fiscal year.

The broader market provided little cushion. Germany’s MDAX index, in which SUSS MicroTec is a constituent, was trading modestly lower on the day, and the TecDAX also opened with losses, reflecting cautious sentiment in the domestic technology and semiconductor equipment space.

U.S. equity benchmarks were only marginally positive, offering no meaningful tailwind for European tech names.

The combination of an unexpected production overhaul, a double-digit guidance cut on both revenue and margins, and the prospect of downward analyst revisions proved too much for the market to absorb. While management’s record order book offers a longer-term silver lining — and the company has maintained its 2027 targets — investors today chose to price in the near-term earnings headwinds, pushing the stock to its lowest level since March and well below its 52-week high of €118.40.
