Why is Terawulf stock surging today?
Terawulf stock surged 10.8% in pre-open trading after the company reported third-quarter 2026 results that decisively beat analyst expectations on both the top and bottom lines.
Revenue came in at $76.23 million, well above the consensus estimate of approximately $62.50 million, while the adjusted loss per share narrowed to -$0.03, far better than the -$0.18 analysts had forecast.
HPC lease revenue totaled $63.0 million for the quarter, representing approximately 83% of total revenue — a dramatic leap from just $7.2 million in the same period a year earlier — confirming the company’s accelerating transformation into an AI data center infrastructure provider.
Beyond the headline numbers, several additional developments reinforced investor confidence. TeraWulf expanded its revolving credit facility from $250 million to $400 million, bolstering financial flexibility, and increased contracted power capacity at its Muskie campus to 1,000 MW through amended agreements with Kentucky Power Company, subject to regulatory approval.
The company also reaffirmed its target of contracting 250 MW to 500 MW of incremental critical IT capacity annually.
CEO Paul Prager stated that "Lake Mariner is delivering contracted capacity and generating revenue, Justified has the customer, credit support and construction framework to move forward at scale, and Muskie gives us a contracted path to a gigawatt of power."
Analyst coverage remained broadly constructive, with Bernstein SocGen maintaining an Outperform rating and Morgan Stanley holding an Overweight view.
The broader market environment provided a helpful tailwind, with the NASDAQ gaining 1.4% today as technology and AI-linked names broadly attracted buyers.
The S&P 500 edged up 0.2%, though the Dow Jones slipped 0.9%. The earnings-driven pop also comes after a painful stretch for the stock, which had recently touched its 52-week low of $9.51, having fallen sharply from a 52-week high of $29.84 amid sector-wide selling pressure tied to concerns about AI data center financing costs.
Together, the combination of a substantial earnings beat, accelerating HPC revenue growth, strengthened liquidity, and a supportive tech-sector tape created the conditions for today’s sharp pre-market recovery.
The results effectively answered investors’ most pressing questions about execution risk and revenue quality, at least for this quarter, giving bulls a clear fundamental catalyst to re-engage with the stock.
