Why is Prysmian stock gaining today?

Prysmian stock rose 1.6% today as Citi reinstated a Buy rating on the Italian cable maker with a price target of €136, projecting EBITDA reaching €5.2 billion by 2030 and a 16% compound annual EBITDA growth rate over the 2026–2030 period.

The bank, which had previously suspended its rating on the stock, argued that the recent compression in valuation multiples could represent an attractive entry point ahead of what it sees as a favorable medium-term investment case, underpinned by structural mega-trends in electrification and power grid investment.

Supporting the move, Prysmian’s Q3 2026 earnings release is scheduled for October 29 — just three days away — with analysts forecasting revenue of approximately €5.9 billion for the quarter.

The stock’s deeply oversold technical condition, having traded well below its 200-day moving average and more than 36% off its multi-year high, likely amplified the positive response to the Citi note, as investors reassessed the risk/reward at current levels.

The broader market provided a neutral backdrop, with U.S. indices broadly flat to marginally positive. The stock continues to trade near the lower end of its 52-week range of €79.5–€157.55, reflecting the significant de-rating it has experienced since mid-year, though the consensus among major sell-side analysts remains firmly bullish, with Buy ratings also maintained by BofA and Jefferies.

Together, the Citi re-initiation, the proximity of the upcoming earnings catalyst, and the stock’s compressed valuation combined to lift Prysmian modestly today, offering a partial recovery from its recent downtrend even as the broader correction from peak levels keeps the longer-term technical picture under pressure.
