Why is Prysmian stock climbing today?

Prysmian stock rose 1.9% to trade at €100.75 during today’s session after Citi reinstated a Buy rating on the Italian cable manufacturer, setting a price target of €136 and projecting EBITDA of €5.2 billion by 2030, implying a 16% compound annual EBITDA growth rate over the 2026–2030 period.

The bank, which had previously suspended its coverage, argued that the recent sharp compression in valuation multiples — the stock had shed roughly 31% since late June — could represent a compelling entry point ahead of what it views as a favorable medium-term investment case rooted in structural mega-trends in electrification and power grid spending.

Adding to the bullish momentum, Prysmian’s Q3 2026 earnings release is scheduled for October 29, just three days away, with the analyst consensus forecasting approximately €5.9 billion in quarterly revenue.

The stock’s oversold technical condition — trading more than 36% below its 52-week high of €157.55 and well beneath its 200-day moving average — likely amplified the market’s positive reaction to the Citi note, as investors reassessed the risk/reward at current levels.

Citi also flagged that the recently completed $3.8 billion Atkore acquisition could push Prysmian’s 2026 adjusted EBITDA guidance toward the €2.95–3.0 billion range.

The broader market provided a modestly constructive backdrop, with U.S. equity indices trading marginally higher and the Italian FTSE MIB — Prysmian’s primary home index — also rebounding on the day. The wider sell-side community remains broadly constructive on the stock, with Buy ratings also maintained by major institutions including BofA, Jefferies, and Barclays.

Taken together, the Citi reinstatement acted as the key catalyst that crystallized the bullish case for a stock that had been under sustained selling pressure for months, with pre-earnings positioning and a supportive macro backdrop providing additional tailwinds to today’s move.
