Why is Nebius stock sliding today?
Shares of Nebius Group NV slid 2.0% in morning trading to trade at $151.07, bucking a broader market rally as investors continued to reassess the outlook for AI cloud infrastructure companies in the wake of weaker-than-expected results from major technology spenders. The stock touched a session low of $145.88 before paring some losses, but remains under sustained pressure that has built over the past several weeks.
The primary weight on the stock traces back to disappointing earnings from Amazon and Intel released in late October, which intensified fears that large technology companies may be pulling back on or moderating their AI infrastructure outlays. Investors are questioning whether demand for neocloud capacity will translate into profitable growth fast enough to justify the enormous financing and construction costs these companies carry. A Piper Sandler analyst had already lowered the price target on NBIS from $237 to $185 while maintaining a Neutral rating on October 21, and Weiss Ratings issued a further downgrade on October 30, keeping the analyst backdrop cautious. A director also disclosed a small share sale of 333 shares executed on October 29, reported publicly today.
The broader market offered little comfort as a contrasting backdrop: the S&P 500 gained around 0.9%, the Dow Jones climbed roughly 1.1%, and the NASDAQ rose approximately 1.1%, making Nebius’s decline a clear case of sector-specific underperformance. Neocloud peers such as CoreWeave and IREN have similarly faced volatile sessions in recent weeks as the market reprices the risk profile of AI infrastructure debt financing.
Taken together, the combination of sector-wide earnings-driven anxiety, cautious analyst positioning, and a stock already down sharply from its 52-week high of $299.86 has created a difficult near-term environment for NBIS. Investors are likely to remain in a holding pattern until the company reports its third-quarter 2026 results on November 12, which will offer a fresh read on revenue growth, customer deployments, and the company’s funding trajectory.
