Nebius leads neocloud peers on balance-sheet resilience amid sector stress

On the balance-sheet data, Nebius Group (NBIS) looks the most resilient of the four neoclouds we checked. That is relative resilience only. It still burns cash, and its own CEO has said some funding channels are temporarily unavailable.

What Musk Actually Said

On Oct 25, Musk said debt markets have "almost entirely shut off access to money" for companies without substantial revenue outside AI data centers. He predicted that "200+ neoclouds" face consolidation and failures. He also said SpaceX won’t buy any neocloud (, Oct 25, 2026).

The selloff was sector-wide. CoreWeave and Nebius had each lost more than 30% this month. Both rebounded on Oct 26 after Anthropic’s IPO filing, with CoreWeave up 5.7% and Nebius up 2.3% (, Oct 26, 2026).

Why Nebius Leads

  • Lowest leverage. Nebius has $10.2B of debt against a $43.5B market cap. CoreWeave carries $51.6B of debt against a $29.9B market cap.
  • Best liquidity. A 4.0x current ratio means short-term assets cover near-term obligations four times over. CoreWeave sits at 0.5x.
  • Fastest growth. Revenue rose from $91.5M in FY2024 to $529.8M in FY2025.
  • Strongest price action. Nebius is the only name of the four with a positive 1-year return.

The Bear Case

  • Cash burn. Nebius’s levered free cash flow was -$5.88B. Every name here is burning cash, so "resilient" means "survives longer."
  • Funding strain. The CEO acknowledged some funding channels had become temporarily unavailable (, Oct 26, 2026). Its 2034 bonds also hit record lows.
  • Revenue concentration. Musk’s point is about reliance on AI data-center revenue. Nebius doesn’t escape that.
  • Runner-up. IREN has comparable liquidity and a Z-score of 5.6. It has revenue of $707M but a heavier debt load (43.3% debt/capital), and it has not turned a profit in three quarters.
  • CoreWeave. It is the weakest on these metrics. Gartner flagged it as the most leveraged neocloud, and its bond yields have spiked toward 15%.

Takeaway

In a credit squeeze, the company with the least debt and the most cash cushion should outlast the others. Nebius currently fits that description. Its edge is balance-sheet strength, not profitability.
