Why is Hensoldt stock sliding today?

Hensoldt AG stock fell 6.5% to trade at €76.14 after the company released its nine-month 2026 quarterly statement, a report that delivered a mixed message: adjusted EBITDA surged 33% to €281 million and full-year revenue guidance was raised to approximately €2.8 billion, yet that revised target still came in roughly 1% below the analyst consensus of over €2.9 billion, leaving investors who had anticipated a more decisive beat feeling underwhelmed.

The earnings-day disappointment was compounded by an analyst backdrop that had already turned cautious. Goldman Sachs, which initiated Hensoldt at Neutral with an €85 price target in early October, had argued that the stock’s valuation already reflected much of the company’s growth story — a stance that capped upside enthusiasm heading into today’s results.

Meanwhile, Jefferies maintained a more constructive Buy view with a €98 target, leaving the market caught between two diverging assessments of the stock’s risk-reward profile.

On the macro front, European defense stocks broadly came under pressure following the Democratic Party’s sweeping victory in U.S. midterm elections, which reduced expectations for continued increases in American military spending.

Goldman Sachs’ European defense basket had shed 4.1% in the prior session — its largest single-day decline in over four months — with sector peers including BAE Systems also falling sharply. This sector-wide rotation out of defense names amplified Hensoldt’s stock-specific weakness, even as the broader DAX rose approximately 0.8% on the day.

Taken together, a guidance raise that fell short of elevated market expectations, a cautious institutional analyst stance, and a powerful macro headwind from shifting U.S. defense spending expectations combined to drive Hensoldt sharply lower — leaving the stock trading near the lower end of its intraday range of €74.88–€82.00 and well below its 52-week high of €96.70.
