Why is Genmab stock surging today?

Genmab AS ADR stock surged 6.8% in mid-day trading after the Danish biotechnology company released transformative Phase 3 data for rinatabart sesutecan (Rina-S), its investigational antibody-drug conjugate targeting folate receptor alpha, in patients with platinum-resistant ovarian cancer. The RAINFOL-02 trial — enrolling 584 patients — met its primary endpoint of progression-free survival and the key secondary endpoint of overall survival versus investigator’s choice chemotherapy, with the treated population showing a 71% reduction in the risk of disease progression or death. The company stated the safety profile was consistent with previously known data, with no new signals identified.

The clinical win arrives at a moment of strong analyst conviction. Morgan Stanley had initiated coverage just days earlier with an Equalweight rating and a $42 price target, while H.C. Wainwright and Guggenheim had both raised their price targets to $50 and $54, respectively, maintaining Buy ratings — with Guggenheim having specifically highlighted Rina-S as a key contributor to its pipeline valuation thesis. The stock touched a new 52-week high of $44 intraday, extending a powerful recovery from its 52-week low of $23.62.

The broader market offered only a tepid backdrop: the NASDAQ edged fractionally higher while the S&P 500 and Dow Jones were modestly in the red, underscoring that today’s move is almost entirely driven by company-specific news rather than macro tailwinds. Genmab’s fundamental profile had already been strengthening, with DARZALEX generating $4.2 billion in net sales in Q3 2026 and the company having raised its full-year revenue guidance to DKK 4.3–4.5 billion following a strong first half.

Taken together, the RAINFOL-02 readout serves as a pivotal de-risking event for Genmab’s pipeline, validating Rina-S as a potentially practice-changing therapy across multiple gynecologic cancer settings — with four additional Phase 3 trials still ongoing. The combination of a clean, highly statistically significant efficacy result, a favorable safety profile, and a well-primed analyst community created the conditions for today’s sharp move higher.
