Genmab stock surges 9% following positive phase 3 ovarian cancer trial results

Shares of Genmab A/S (NASDAQ: GMAB) rallied 9% on Friday following the announcement of positive top-line results from its Phase 3 RAINFOL-02 trial evaluating rinatabart sesutecan (Rina-S) in patients with platinum-resistant ovarian cancer. Meanwhile, shares of Corcept Therapeutics (NASDAQ: CORT)—which recently gained approval for its own rival platinum-resistant ovarian cancer treatment, Lifyorli (relacorilant)—fell 11% in contrasting sector movement.

The pivotal study met both its primary endpoint of progression-free survival (PFS) and key secondary endpoint of overall survival (OS), delivering statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvements over investigator’s choice chemotherapy.

In the intent-to-treat population of 584 patients, Rina-S reduced the risk of disease progression or death by 71% compared to standard chemotherapy. The interim overall survival analysis demonstrated a 57% reduction in the risk of death.

Rina-S—an investigational folate receptor alpha (FRα)-targeted, topoisomerase I inhibitor antibody-drug conjugate (ADC)—was evaluated in patients regardless of FRα expression levels or prior treatment with mirvetuximab. A predefined primary analysis set of 492 patients met specific FRα expression criteria.

According to the company, the drug’s safety profile remained consistent with prior clinical data, revealing no new safety signals or unexpected adverse events.

Genmab plans to submit the complete dataset for presentation at an upcoming medical congress and initiate discussions with global regulatory authorities regarding approval pathways. Rina-S is currently undergoing evaluation across a broad clinical program, including five Phase 3 studies in gynecologic cancers and additional Phase 2 trials in non-small cell lung and gastrointestinal cancers.
