Why is Aker stock climbing today?

Aker stock rose 3.2% during today’s session, reaching 1,156 NOK, after the Norwegian industrial investment company published its third-quarter 2026 results early this morning, showing pre-tax profit climbing to NOK655 million from NOK460 million a year earlier — a gain of more than 42%. The improvement was driven by a 9.2% rise in dividend income to NOK1.18 billion and a dramatic narrowing of valuation losses, which shrank to just NOK36 million from NOK415 million in the prior-year period.

A key highlight from the report was the portfolio’s net asset value reaching NOK111.2 billion at the end of September — a record for any quarter-end in the company’s history — representing a 5% sequential increase and a 65% rise year-to-date. Higher valuations across listed energy investments, the AI infrastructure unit Nscale, and the pending sale of Cognite to Schneider Electric all contributed to the NAV expansion. Adding further income appeal, the board confirmed a second-half dividend of NOK29 per share, totalling approximately NOK2.2 billion, with payment scheduled for November 17. CEO Øyvind Eriksen noted that the company "delivered a solid third quarter, with continued value creation across the portfolio."

The broader market provided a constructive backdrop, with U.S. indices trading modestly higher today. Aker’s own cumulative total shareholder return through the first nine months of 2026 stood at 83% including dividends, sharply ahead of the Oslo Stock Exchange Benchmark Index’s 23% gain over the same period. Key portfolio holding Aker BP also recently declared its Q4 2026 quarterly dividend, supporting the dividend income stream that is central to Aker ASA’s holding-company earnings model.

Together, the record NAV, the strong profit beat, and the confirmed dividend payment created a compelling combination for investors, pushing the shares to their session high and reinforcing Aker’s position well above its 52-week low of 718 NOK, even as the stock remains below its 52-week peak of 1,638 NOK.
