Why is Aker stock climbing today?

Aker stock is rising 3.0% today after the company published its third-quarter 2026 results, revealing a 42.4% jump in profit before tax to NOK 655 million, fuelled by robust dividend income from its portfolio holdings and a significant narrowing of valuation losses compared with the same period a year ago.

Dividend income climbed 9.2% to NOK 1.18 billion, while the negative impact from changes in asset values narrowed sharply to NOK 36 million from NOK 415 million. At the portfolio level, net asset value increased 5% from the second quarter to NOK 111.2 billion at the end of September, lifting year-to-date growth to 65%.

Adding further momentum, the company confirmed a second-half dividend of NOK 29 per share, equivalent to approximately NOK 2.2 billion, with payment scheduled for November 17.

The record NAV was supported by multiple portfolio drivers: higher valuations across listed energy investments, Nscale, and the agreed sale of Cognite to Schneider Electric all contributed to the increase.

Aker BP, one of Aker’s most significant listed holdings, also declared its Q4 2026 quarterly dividend, with today serving as the record date, reinforcing the income story across the group.

On the broader performance front, Aker’s total shareholder return reached 83% in the first nine months, including dividends, compared with a 23% gain in the Oslo Stock Exchange Benchmark Index.

Global equity markets provided a constructive backdrop, with U.S. indices posting modest gains, though no major Norwegian central bank announcement or domestic macro data release was identified as a specific driver of today’s move.

Taken together, a record-breaking NAV print, a materially stronger profit figure, a confirmed near-term dividend payment, and continued momentum from high-profile portfolio assets — particularly in AI infrastructure through Nscale and the pending Cognite divestiture — combined to push Aker shares meaningfully higher today, with the stock trading between a session low of NOK 1,114 and a high of NOK 1,158.
