Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.86%

Germany stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms, Technology and Construction sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.86%, while the MDAX index lost 0.73%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.96%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG), which rose 3.27% or 1.28 points to trade at 40.46 at the close. Meanwhile, Beiersdorf AG O.N. (ETR:BEIG) added 2.41% or 1.98 points to end at 84.12 and Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) was up 2.25% or 0.59 points to 26.82 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn), which fell 4.84% or 16.10 points to trade at 316.70 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) declined 3.17% or 0.83 points to end at 25.35 and Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) was down 2.88% or 3.52 points to 118.68.

The top performers on the MDAX were K+S AG (ETR:SDFGn) which rose 4.33% to 13.00, Sartorius Pref (ETR:SATG_p) which was up 3.03% to settle at 281.80 and Evonik Industries AG (ETR:EVKn) which gained 2.71% to close at 21.26.

The worst performers were Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR:WCHG) which was down 4.66% to 78.75 in late trade, flatexDEGIRO AG (ETR:FTKn) which lost 3.29% to settle at 22.34 and Dr Ing hc F Porsche AG Preferred (ETR:P911_p) which was down 3.17% to 41.60 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius Pref (ETR:SATG_p) which rose 3.03% to 281.80, Draegerwerk Pref (ETR:DRWG_p) which was up 2.24% to settle at 100.60 and Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which gained 2.11% to close at 35.74.

The worst performers were Atoss Software AG (ETR:AOFG) which was down 8.97% to 87.30 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which lost 5.23% to settle at 47.48 and Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which was down 4.68% to 56.00 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 404 to 272 and 67 ended unchanged.

Shares in Sartorius Pref (ETR:SATG_p) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.03% or 8.30 to 281.80. Shares in flatexDEGIRO AG (ETR:FTKn) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.29% or 0.76 to 22.34. Shares in Sartorius Pref (ETR:SATG_p) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.03% or 8.30 to 281.80.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 10.63% to 19.58.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.05% or 42.65 to $4,017.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 3.28% or 3.26 to hit $102.73 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 3.21% or 3.63 to trade at $116.80 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.15% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 101.61.
