Compass Minerals appoints Brett Teuscher as chief accounting officer

Compass Minerals International Inc. (NYSE:CMP) announced the appointment of Brett Teuscher as its new Chief Accounting Officer on Wednesday. The $955 million market cap company has seen its stock rise nearly 30% over the past year to $22.93. The company disclosed the leadership change in a statement based on a recent SEC filing.

According to the filing, Ashley Ward resigned as Chief Accounting Officer effective Thursday last week. The company stated that Ward’s resignation was not the result of any disagreement with Compass Minerals on matters related to operations, policies, or practices.

Brett Teuscher, age 44, joined Compass Minerals in May as Senior Director of Internal Audit. He brings 19 years of experience in finance and accounting, including roles at BlueScope, United Health Group, Whirlpool, JCPenney Company, and the Utah State Tax Commission. At BlueScope, he most recently served as Director of Finance Transformation, ERM, and Procurement. Teuscher holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Utah State University.

Compass Minerals entered into a letter agreement with Teuscher, signed Wednesday, setting his annual base salary at $300,000. He will be eligible for an annual targeted cash bonus equal to 40% of his base salary, subject to company performance goals. The agreement also provides for eligibility to receive annual equity awards valued at $115,000 as part of the company’s long-term incentive program. Teuscher’s employment is at will.

The company stated there are no family relationships or related transactions between Teuscher and any director or executive officer of Compass Minerals that would require disclosure.

This information is based on a press release statement included in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
