Warsh to attend Fed jobs and productivity task force hearing to refine views
WASHINGTON, Oct 28 (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh said that he plans to attend a November 16 field hearing of the central bank’s productivity and jobs task force in the San Francisco Bay Area to hear from a broad range of people on questions about technology and productivity and their impact on monetary policy.
Warsh told a news conference after the Fed held rates steady that the conference would explore AI-driven productivity implications for the economy in the near term, medium term and long term.
"Is this a productivity miracle that’s going to happen, or will it happen slowly? I know I, for one, am keenly interested in refining my own views on that question," Warsh said.
"Is this going to make it harder or easier for us to achieve price stability over the next several years? What are the implications for jobs, medium and long term, but near term too? So we’re going to explore those largely in the public realm on November 16th," he added.
