Why is Zalando stock holding steady today?

Zalando SE stock is trading unchanged today at 117.4 PLN on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, steadying after the company’s Q3 2026 earnings release the prior session triggered a steep sell-off on its primary Xetra listing. The results were a mixed bag: while gross merchandise volume climbed 7.5% year-on-year to €4.54 billion and group revenue rose 5.1% to €3.2 billion — both ahead of analyst expectations — gross margin contracted 90 basis points to 38.7%, falling well short of the consensus estimate of 39.9%, as the company ramped up targeted price investments in its consumer segment. A surprise net loss of €18 million, against a profit a year earlier, added to the initial selling pressure.

Providing a meaningful counterweight, several major investment banks reiterated constructive ratings on the stock in the wake of the earnings. UBS held its Buy rating with a €33.50 target, Deutsche Bank maintained Buy at €35, and Jefferies echoed the same stance at a €35 target, while JP Morgan kept a Neutral view at €32. Management’s confirmation of full-year 2026 adjusted EBIT guidance of €680–720 million, alongside the unveiling of a new AI shopping agent and the Zalando Extended platform — a pilot initiative targeting agentic commerce — gave longer-term bulls additional reasons to hold rather than sell.

On the broader market front, Poland’s WIG index has been one of Europe’s top-performing benchmarks in 2026, offering a generally supportive domestic backdrop. Global equity markets are also modestly positive today, with U.S. indices edging higher, which has helped limit any residual pressure on European-listed consumer discretionary names.

Taken together, the flat price action in Warsaw today reflects a market in equilibrium: the earnings-driven shock has been largely absorbed, analyst support has provided a floor, and Zalando’s reaffirmed guidance and AI strategy give investors a framework to look past the near-term margin headwinds ahead of the seasonally critical fourth quarter.
