Why is Waystar stock sliding today?

Waystar Holding Corp stock is sliding 4.1% in pre-open trading today to reach $27, as the after-hours selloff triggered by Monday evening’s third-quarter earnings report continues to pressure shares heading into the regular session. While the healthcare payment software company delivered Q3 revenue of $325.6 million — a 21% year-over-year increase — and adjusted earnings per share of $0.44 that topped the $0.41 analyst consensus, investors zeroed in on the company’s full-year 2026 revenue guidance, whose midpoint of $1.282 billion fell short of the $1.29 billion consensus estimate.

The core concern driving the selloff is an implied deceleration in fourth-quarter revenue growth to approximately 6%, a steep step-down from Q3’s 21% pace. Management attributed the slowdown to longer implementation and revenue ramp periods for large enterprise clients, a delayed rollout of Iodine’s Pre-Bill Anomaly Detection product, and slower-than-anticipated conversion of bookings into recognized revenue. Several analysts responded with constructive notes today: Canaccord raised its price target to $34 from $33 while maintaining a Buy rating, BMO lifted its target to $34 from $30, and Truist reiterated its Buy rating with a $33 target, citing robust year-to-date bookings growth of 25% and an implementation backlog that has grown more than 50%.

The broader market backdrop adds a modest headwind. The Nasdaq Composite fell 1.1% on Monday — its third consecutive decline — as technology stocks remained under pressure from concerns about AI infrastructure spending and elevated valuations. Nasdaq futures were attempting a mild recovery in pre-market today, but the overall environment for growth-oriented software names remains cautious, particularly with U.S. midterm elections drawing investor attention away from risk assets.

Taken together, the combination of a guidance miss on revenue, a sharp implied Q4 growth slowdown, and a still-fragile tech tape has more than offset the Q3 earnings beat and today’s analyst support, leaving Waystar shares under meaningful pressure in pre-market trading and trading well below their 52-week high of $37.71.
