Why is Solaria Energia stock surging today?

Solaria Energia stock surged 7.4% to trade at €15.255 today after Spain’s government moved to relax the energy regulations governing data centers, a development that directly expands the addressable market for the company’s renewable power output.

The Spanish executive introduced a multi-year transitional regime allowing data center operators that cannot immediately meet the requirement to source 80% of their hourly energy consumption from renewables to remain compliant, removing a key overhang that had weighed on power purchase agreement prospects for solar producers like Solaria.

Compounding the positive regulatory news, Goldman Sachs analyst Alberto Gandolfi reiterated the company on the bank’s European Conviction Buy list, maintaining a price target of €25. Gandolfi argued that the stock’s recent valuation decline does not reflect the company’s improving business fundamentals, pointing specifically to installed capacity that has nearly doubled over the past year, accelerating progress in battery storage development, and a growing pipeline of data center supply agreements.

The analyst also noted that the prior selloff was largely attributable to rising Spanish bond yields and the stock’s correlation with AI-sector volatility rather than any deterioration in Solaria’s own operations.

The broader Spanish market provided a constructive but modest backdrop, with the IBEX 35 trading slightly higher on the day. Other Madrid-listed names with data center exposure, including Merlin and ACS, also moved higher in sympathy with the regulatory news, though their gains were considerably smaller than Solaria’s.

With the stock still trading well below its 52-week high of €25.85, the Goldman price target implies meaningful upside from current levels, and the bank flagged a Capital Markets Day scheduled for November 19 as a potential additional catalyst.

Together, the regulatory pivot on data center energy rules and the high-profile analyst conviction call created a powerful combination that lifted Solaria sharply off recent lows near its 52-week floor of €13.61, with today’s session high reaching €15.395 as buyers stepped in throughout the morning.
