Why is Celestica stock surging today?

Celestica stock surged nearly 9.7% in after-hours trading after the company reported third-quarter 2026 results that topped Wall Street’s expectations on every key metric, releasing the figures after the regular session’s close.

Adjusted EPS came in at $3.30, more than doubling the $1.58 reported in the same quarter a year earlier, while revenue reached $5.83 billion — an 83% year-over-year increase. Both figures landed above the high end of the company’s own guidance ranges, continuing a streak of consistent beats. CEO Rob Mionis noted that "Celestica’s strong momentum continued in the third quarter," with an adjusted operating margin of 8.5% representing "another new high for the company."

Beyond the headline beat, the market reaction was amplified by an extraordinary forward outlook. For 2027, Celestica issued an initial annual outlook calling for revenue of $40.0 billion, adjusted EPS of $21.50, and an adjusted operating margin of 9.0%, with the company anticipating revenue growth of approximately 90%.

The company also noted that 2028 customer demand forecasts are meaningfully higher than its 2027 revenue outlook, signaling multi-year visibility that resonated strongly with investors. For Q4 2026, Celestica guided for revenue of $6.275 to $6.575 billion and adjusted EPS of $3.37 to $3.57. Additionally, the full-year 2026 revenue outlook was raised to $21.0 billion, up from the prior $20.5 billion, with adjusted EPS lifted to $11.55.

The broader market provided no meaningful tailwind for the move, with the S&P 500 essentially flat at +0.01%, the Dow Jones edging down 0.06%, and the Nasdaq adding just 0.10% — underscoring that the after-hours spike was entirely driven by company-specific news. Wall Street’s expectations heading into the print were elevated, and Celestica had beaten the consensus EPS estimate in each of its last eight quarters, yet the magnitude of the Q3 beat and the scale of the 2027 outlook still caught the market off guard. Celestica had entered the earnings release with rapid AI-infrastructure growth and strong recent execution, though investors had been questioning whether 800G and 1.6T networking programs could offset customer concentration and higher capital needs.

The Q3 results and transformative 2027 guidance collectively resolved much of that uncertainty, sending the stock sharply higher. The company also announced its intention to commence a new normal-course issuer bid (NCIB) share repurchase program in Q4 2026, adding a capital-return component to an already compelling narrative. With the stock having traded as much as 45% below its 52-week high of $474.025 heading into the print, the blowout results and accelerating growth targets provided a powerful catalyst for a sharp rebound in after-hours trading.
