Why is SES stock surging today?

SES DRC stock surged 14.1% to reach €4.74 after the European satellite operator delivered a third-quarter 2026 earnings report that comfortably beat analyst expectations on every key metric.

Adjusted EBITDA came in at €413 million on revenue of €870 million, surpassing consensus estimates of €367 million and €832 million respectively — a meaningful positive surprise that erased much of the skepticism built up since the company’s disappointing Q2 results.

The breadth of the beat added conviction to the rally. The Mobility segment more than doubled year-on-year, while Government & Defense revenue climbed sharply, reflecting accelerating demand from defense-oriented customers.

CEO Adel Al-Saleh stated that the company "delivered a good third quarter with Revenue growth of +4.2% yoy LFL and an increase in Adjusted EBITDA of +18.6% yoy LFL," and management reiterated full-year 2026 guidance for stable revenue and EBITDA on a like-for-like, constant-currency basis.

The total contract backlog reached €10.0 billion, including a €3.4 billion contribution from the IRIS2 European satellite program.

The broader market provided a constructive tailwind. The CAC 40 rose over 1% today, lifted by a post-election rebound on Wall Street and a slate of strong earnings from Paris-listed companies.

SES was among the standout performers on the French bourse, alongside other major names reporting results. Analyst consensus price targets for the stock have long sat well above recent trading levels, meaning the earnings beat gave fundamental investors a clear reason to close that valuation gap.

Taken together, the combination of a decisive earnings beat, a reiterated full-year outlook, a record backlog anchored by a major European defense satellite contract, and a supportive macro backdrop drove one of SES’s strongest single-session moves in recent memory, with the stock touching a session high of €4.89 before settling near €4.74.
