Why is Pluxee stock plunging today?

Shares of Pluxee fell 13.5% during today’s session to trade at €12.27 after the employee benefits specialist published its fiscal year 2026 annual results alongside forward guidance that alarmed investors: the company projected recurring EBITDA of at least €440 million for fiscal 2027, down from the €488 million it just achieved in fiscal 2026, and labeled the year ahead a "transition year" driven by the full-year impact of Brazil’s PAT meal-voucher reform.

While fiscal 2026 results themselves beat expectations — total revenues of €1,302 million came in above the roughly €1,280 million analysts had anticipated, and recurring EBITDA of €488 million topped the €474 million consensus — markets looked past the beat and focused squarely on the deteriorating near-term profit trajectory.

The fourth quarter added to investor unease, with operating revenue declining 6.2% organically, including a 12.1% drop in Latin America, illustrating the tangible damage Brazil’s regulatory overhaul is already inflicting on the business.

On the positive side, CEO Aurélien Sonet stated that "Fiscal 2026 demonstrated the resilience of our business model, with financial results above all our objectives," and the board proposed a sharply higher dividend of €0.65 per share — a 71% year-on-year increase — alongside a completed €100 million share buyback. These capital return measures, however, were insufficient to reassure investors focused on the earnings step-down ahead.

Pluxee’s key competitor Edenred operates in the same employee benefits and meal-voucher segment and faces comparable Brazil reform headwinds, meaning sector sentiment was already under pressure heading into today’s release.

The broader French market and global indices provided little directional influence on Pluxee’s move, which is entirely company-specific in nature; the stock’s decline far exceeds any index-level fluctuation seen today.

The combination of a forward guidance cut, an explicit "transition year" label, and a double-digit organic revenue decline in Latin America proved too much for the market to absorb, even against a backdrop of fiscal 2026 outperformance.

With the stock now trading near €12.27 — well below its 52-week high of €17.93 but above its 52-week low of €9.90 — investors appear to be repricing Pluxee for a prolonged period of earnings pressure until Brazil’s regulatory environment stabilizes and the group can return to profitable growth.
