Why is PACS stock surging today?

PACS Group Inc stock surged 6.0% in after-hours trading after the company released its third-quarter 2026 results following the close of regular trading, delivering a double beat that caught the market’s attention.

The company reported adjusted earnings per share of $0.63, beating the consensus estimate of $0.58 by $0.05, while revenue came in at $1.50 billion against analyst expectations of $1.46 billion.

Beyond the headline beat, the guidance upgrade was arguably the more powerful catalyst. PACS raised its full-year 2026 Adjusted EBITDA outlook to a range of $685 million to $695 million, up from the prior estimate of $640 million to $660 million. The company also raised its full-year revenue guidance to $5.95 billion–$6.05 billion.

CEO Jason Murray noted that results reflect "continued progress our teams are making across the organization, both in the quality of care we provide and the performance of our facilities," while CFO Carey Hendrickson stated that results "demonstrate the increasing earnings power of the PACS operating model, with Adjusted EBITDA growth significantly outpacing revenue growth."

The broader analyst community remains constructive on the stock. Five analysts have rated the stock with a Buy rating and two with a Hold, giving it a consensus "Moderate Buy" with an average price target of $58.80 — a level that implies meaningful additional upside even after today’s after-hours move. The broad market provided a modestly supportive backdrop, with the S&P 500 adding 0.1% and the NASDAQ gaining 0.4% during the regular session, though the after-hours surge was driven entirely by company-specific news.

The combination of a clean earnings beat, a substantial guidance raise, and improving occupancy and skilled-mix metrics gave investors a clear fundamental reason to bid the stock higher after the close, pushing it to $49.46 and within striking distance of its 52-week high of $50.38.
