Why is Medicover stock sliding today?

Medicover stock is declining 2.7% today after the Swedish healthcare and diagnostics group reported third-quarter revenue of €570.8 million, representing 6% growth with 8.0% organic expansion, but falling well short of the €604.4 million analyst consensus.

The company simultaneously cautioned that deteriorating public reimbursement conditions and recently introduced tariff changes in German genetics are generating near-term pressure across its three primary European markets of Poland, Germany, and Romania.

Beyond the headline revenue miss, the profitability picture also disappointed on a relative basis. Adjusted EBITDA of €101.3 million landed 3.7% below Jefferies’ consensus estimate of €105.2 million, and net profit of €24.8 million came in under the €25.9 million consensus.

Jefferies, which carries a "hold" rating on the shares with a price target of SEK 238, noted the shortfalls, while the company offered no updated medium-term financial guidance on a standalone ex-India basis, leaving investors without a clear forward anchor.

On the broader market front, U.S. indices were modestly positive on the day, with the S&P 500 edging up 0.2% and the Dow Jones adding 0.6%, providing no sector-wide catalyst to offset Medicover’s company-specific weakness.

The confirmed sale of the Indian hospital business to KKR for gross proceeds of approximately €740 million — expected to close by year-end — was reiterated in today’s release, with the chief executive describing the outcome as positioning Medicover as a "more focused provider across three key European markets," but this strategic positive was already largely priced in.

In sum, today’s pullback reflects a market reaction to a clear top-line miss and cautious near-term commentary on European reimbursement dynamics, which outweighed the strong operating profit growth and the balance-sheet improvement expected from the India divestiture.

The stock is trading at 268.5 SEK, still well above its 52-week low of 179.4 SEK but retreating from its 52-week high of 284.5 SEK reached earlier this year.
