Why is International Workplace Group stock surging today?

International Workplace Group stock surged 8.7% to reach 214.4p after the flexible workspace operator published its third-quarter 2026 trading update, delivering both a revenue beat and an upward revision to full-year earnings guidance.

Group revenue for the quarter came in at $1.03 billion, up 9% year-over-year, while system-wide revenue — which includes managed and franchised locations — reached $1.26 billion, representing 12% growth and an annualized run-rate exceeding $5 billion. The company also crossed the milestone of 5,000 centers globally.

The guidance upgrade proved to be the key catalyst for the market’s reaction. IWG tightened its 2026 adjusted EBITDA range to $585 million–$625 million, with the $605 million midpoint sitting above the prevailing analyst consensus of $599 million.

Jefferies analysts described the quarterly update as "reassuring," adding that guidance is now expected to be ahead of consensus and that management’s commentary on full-year cash generation and net debt should comfort investors.

Separately, IWG confirmed $39 million in share buybacks during the quarter, lifting the nine-month total to $139 million against a $200 million full-year target — a signal of continued management confidence in the company’s valuation.

The broader market backdrop provided a modestly supportive environment. The FTSE 100 closed the prior session up 0.29%, while European equities opened positively on the day, with the real estate sector among the gainers.

The Bank of England’s upcoming rate decision added a degree of anticipation to UK mid-cap sentiment, with investors broadly positioned for a constructive outcome.

Taken together, the combination of accelerating revenue growth, a consensus-beating guidance raise, declining net debt, and an active buyback program gave investors multiple reasons to re-rate the stock sharply higher.

The move also helped IWG recover from a period of underperformance, with the shares still trading well below their 52-week high of 250.6p, suggesting the market sees further room for recovery if execution continues on this trajectory.
