Why is IDEXX Laboratories stock surging today?
IDEXX Laboratories stock surged 6.1% in pre-open trading after the pet healthcare diagnostics company reported third-quarter 2026 results that beat Wall Street expectations on both earnings and revenue, and simultaneously lifted its full-year financial outlook. The results, released before the market open, provided the clearest catalyst for the sharp move higher.
On the earnings front, IDEXX posted adjusted EPS of $3.96, topping the analyst consensus of $3.72 by $0.24, while GAAP diluted EPS came in at $4.01 — an 18% increase year-over-year.
Revenue of $1.21 billion exceeded the $1.19 billion estimate, driven by 10% reported and organic growth in the Companion Animal Group, with CAG Diagnostics recurring revenue growing 11% on both a reported and organic basis.
Operating margin expanded 100 basis points to 33.1%, and the company placed over 1,900 inVue Dx analyzers during the quarter, pushing its installed base to nearly 11,000 instruments.
Adding further momentum, management raised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to a range of $4.74 billion to $4.77 billion — a midpoint $32 million above prior guidance and above the analyst consensus of $4.72 billion — and lifted its EPS outlook to $14.96–$15.16, a $0.25 increase at the midpoint versus prior guidance.
Heading into the print, analysts held a consensus Buy rating with a mean price target of $694.42, and the beat helped offset a recent UBS target cut to $627 with a Neutral rating issued the prior week. The broader U.S. equity market provided a supportive backdrop, with the S&P 500 up 0.4%, the Dow Jones up 0.4%, and the NASDAQ Composite up 0.7%.
Taken together, the combination of a meaningful EPS beat, solid double-digit organic diagnostics growth, and a raised full-year outlook gave investors a compelling reason to bid the shares higher, helping IDEXX recover ground after the stock had declined more than 23% over the prior twelve months and sat well below its 52-week high.
