Why is Helios Towers stock rallying today?

Helios Towers stock is up 2.5% to reach 219p after the company published a Q3 2026 trading update that surpassed market expectations and accompanied the results with an upward revision to its full-year outlook.

The company reported year-to-date tenancy additions of a record 3,435, with Q3 alone contributing approximately 924 new tenancies — including around 418 new sites and 506 colocations — driven primarily by growth in Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Madagascar, and Malawi.

On the financial side, Q3 revenue grew 17% year-over-year while adjusted EBITDA expanded 13% over the same period, lifting the return on invested capital to 14.2% on a trailing twelve-month basis.

Full-year 2026 guidance was tightened to the top end of prior ranges: approximately 4,000 tenancy additions (from a range of 3,500–4,000), adjusted EBITDA of around $535 million (from a $520–$535 million range), and recurring free cash flow expected to exceed $235 million.

Looking further ahead, management guided for more than 3,000 additional tenancies in 2027, a figure that stands well above the analyst consensus of approximately 2,500.

CEO Tom Greenwood stated: "We continue to deliver strong operational and financial performance, underpinned by exceptional and accelerating customer demand across our markets."

Adding to the bullish tone, Morgan Stanley maintained its Overweight rating and raised its price target to £3.10 from £2.95, keeping the stock firmly within a unanimous buy-rated analyst community — all seven covering analysts carry Buy ratings with no Hold or Sell recommendations.

The company’s ongoing share buyback programme, expanded in September 2026 by $100 million to a total authorisation of $175 million, provides an additional technical support layer for the shares.

The broader market backdrop was mixed on the day, with US indices offering little directional guidance, making the Helios Towers move clearly company-specific. The combination of a beat-and-raise earnings release, an upwardly revised 2027 tenancy outlook that exceeded consensus, and a fresh analyst price target lift created a compelling confluence of positive catalysts that drove the stock toward its session high of 226.4p.
