Why is Enovix stock surging after-hours today?

Enovix stock surged 11.6% in after-hours trading to $2.80 on Tuesday after the company announced a major battery order from a dronemaker.

Enovix said it received an initial purchase order for 100,000 battery units from an unnamed multinational provider of dual-use drone systems. Deliveries are scheduled for the first half of 2027 and will be fulfilled from Enovix’s Trade Agreements Act-compliant, military-qualified manufacturing facility in South Korea, with the customer expected to place follow-on orders in the second half of 2027 and beyond.

The drone order directly converts one opportunity from the company’s roughly $216 million drone, defense, and industrial pipeline into firm backlog — a milestone that gave investors concrete evidence of commercial traction. The announcement was reinforced by analyst commentary earlier in the day: StoneX reiterated a Buy rating and a $10 price target following the prior day’s preliminary Q3 results, while Northland maintained an Outperform rating despite slashing its price target to $5 from $16, citing a delay in the silicon anode product ramp.

Newly appointed Chief Revenue Officer Steve Bakos, commenting on the order, stated that "drone makers need high-performance batteries from a qualified, non-Chinese source now, and this order shows Enovix can deliver."

The broader market provided no meaningful lift, with Wall Street ending flat on Tuesday.
