Why is e.l.f. Beauty stock surging today?
e.l.f. Beauty stock rose 4.3% in after-hours trading after the cosmetics company delivered a sweeping fiscal second-quarter earnings beat, reporting adjusted EPS of $1.21 against the $0.57 analyst consensus and revenue of $520.8 million against expectations of $469.27 million — a 51% year-over-year increase that marked the company’s 31st consecutive quarter of net sales growth. Management simultaneously raised its full-year net sales growth guidance to a range of 22–24%, up from the prior 18–20%, and lifted its full-year adjusted EPS guidance to $3.82–$3.86, well above the analyst consensus. CEO Tarang Amin stated, "I am proud of the e.l.f. Beauty team for delivering our 31st consecutive quarter of net sales growth, with net sales up 51% driven by strength across our portfolio. With this momentum, we are raising our full-year net sales guidance to 22 to 24%."
The results were bolstered by several supporting drivers. The rhode skincare brand — acquired for $800 million in May 2025 — expanded to 19 European countries through Sephora’s retail network, with CFO Mandy Fields noting that "seventy-five percent of Rhode’s following is outside of the US, so we know that international growth is a big opportunity for the brand." Gross margin expanded approximately 160 basis points to 71%, aided by lower tariffs year-over-year and a favorable product mix. The strong print triggered a wave of analyst price target increases from firms including Canaccord Genuity, Jefferies, JPMorgan, Citi, Bernstein, and Baird, reinforcing bullish sentiment around the stock heading into after-hours.
Today’s session provided a powerful macro tailwind as well. U.S. equities surged broadly following midterm election results in which Democrats swept both chambers of Congress, with investors pricing in legislative gridlock as a stabilizing force. The S&P 500 gained approximately 1.6% during the regular session, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average posted its best post-midterm performance in decades, providing a constructive backdrop for consumer discretionary and personal care names heading into the after-hours window.
Together, the combination of a historic earnings beat, a significant upward revision to full-year guidance, accelerating international expansion through the rhode brand, and a broad market rally driven by election clarity created the conditions for ELF’s sharp after-hours advance, pushing shares to $118.50 and within striking distance of their 52-week high of $122.36.
