Sazerac explores possible purchase of German spirits maker Berentzen - Bloomberg

Sazerac Co. is considering a potential purchase of Berentzen-Gruppe AG, a German schnapps producer, people familiar with the matter said, according to Bloomberg News.

The US spirits company, known for producing Southern Comfort whiskey and Buffalo Trace bourbon, has been examining a possible transaction, the people said. They requested anonymity as the information is not public.

The deliberations may not result in a deal, the people added. A Sazerac representative declined to provide a statement. A Berentzen spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Berentzen-Gruppe AG has a market capitalization of €33.7 million ($38.9 million).
