India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.63%

India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Real Estate and Power sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.63% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.50%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Electronics Ltd (NSE:BAJE), which rose 4.31% or 16.40 points to trade at 396.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Enterprises Ltd (NSE:ADEL) added 4.17% or 108.10 points to end at 2,701.40 and Titan Company Ltd (NSE:TITN) was up 3.68% or 168.00 points to 4,730.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NSE:TCS), which fell 2.50% or 62.60 points to trade at 2,436.50 at the close. HCL Technologies Ltd (NSE:HCLT) declined 2.45% or 35.30 points to end at 1,403.80 and Wipro Ltd (NSE:WIPR) was down 2.35% or 4.65 points to 193.35.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which rose 4.28% to 4,750.00, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was up 2.38% to settle at 993.05 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which gained 2.32% to close at 279.70.

The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 2.70% to 2,435.00 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which lost 2.23% to settle at 1,405.00 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 1.65% to 1,127.10 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 2222 to 780 and 67 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2854 rose and 1277 declined, while 172 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.53% to 15.17.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 2.93% or 115.35 to $4,055.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.51% or 1.45 to hit $94.64 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.94% or 2.01 to trade at $101.59 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.08% to 94.66, while EUR/INR rose 0.48% to 106.54.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.47% at 101.24.
