Down 51% From Its High: Is This 84.6% Margin NAND Flash Maker a Bargain?

The semiconductor sector’s cyclical swings often trigger heavy trading volume across headline memory makers like Micron Technology (NASDAQ:MU) and Western Digital (NASDAQ:WDC). Yet as artificial intelligence workloads transition from raw GPU model training to massive data inference, high-density NAND flash storage has quietly evolved from a commoditized hardware component into a critical enterprise bottleneck.

While sector-wide volatility dragged SanDisk (NASDAQ:SNDK) down 51% from its 52-week peak of $2,354.39 to $1,150.89, the company’s underlying financial execution tells a starkly different story. Backed by multi-year enterprise commitments, the business closed its latest financial year generating record 84.6% non-GAAP gross margins and billions in free cash flow.

That divergence between cyclical market sentiment and balance sheet reality highlights where deep value is forming across tech. Within that same space, ProPicks AI’s Tech Titans strategy holds enterprise tech compounders with recurring cash flow, including an IT infrastructure services leader up 14.1% in October, a mission-critical radio frequency semiconductor leader and a global enterprise cloud database giant. The full November list is on InvestingPro.

Locking in AI Storage Demand with Multi-Year Contracts

SanDisk makes NAND flash memory for data centers and consumer storage. AI inference is pulling that mix toward the data center. In fiscal 2026, revenue grew 175% to $20.25 billion. Fiscal fourth-quarter revenue was $8.97 billion, up 372% from a year earlier, and non-GAAP gross margin hit a record 84.6%. Data center revenue rose 103% sequentially to $2.98 billion, and data center made up 38% of bits that quarter, up from 12% a year earlier.

Eight long-term agreements with data center and edge customers, signed by the fiscal fourth quarter, carry $93.9 billion in minimum revenue commitments, backed by $16.5 billion in financial guarantees. They cover more than half of fiscal 2027 bit supply and about two-thirds of fiscal 2028 supply, which gives revenue multi-year visibility. SanDisk projects the NAND market will exceed $300 billion in calendar 2026 and approach $500 billion in 2027.

Cash generation backs it up somewhat. Adjusted free cash flow was $5.04 billion in the fiscal fourth quarter, a 56% margin, and $4.5 billion went to buybacks, with $15.5 billion of authorization remaining. Total debt ended fiscal 2026 at $201 million, down from $2.07 billion a year earlier.

Measuring the Discount Against Fair Value and Wall Street

On InvestingPro’s data, SanDisk trades at a trailing P/E of 8.4x and a forward P/E of 9.0x. InvestingPro’s Fair Value, which aggregates multiple discounted cash flow approaches, comes to $1,630.19, 41.6% above the current price and labeled "Undervalued". The 14-day RSI of 33.9 sits just above the 30 level usually read as oversold – it’s a reading that fits a stock trading about 51% below its high.

InvestingPro’s Financial Health framework, which benchmarks companies against sector peers across more than 100 indicators, rates SanDisk "Excellent". The Pro Research Report’s component scores read 9.2 out of 10 for growth, 8.7 for profitability and 7.9 for cash flow.

Wall Street is more bullish still. According to consensus analyst data compiled on InvestingPro and cited in the Pro Research Report, 21 of 25 analysts rate the stock a Buy, with a mean price target of $2,143.83, above InvestingPro’s Fair Value.

Risks remain. Consumer revenue fell 32% sequentially to $556 million in the fiscal fourth quarter, a few large customers dominate supply commitments, and rivals such as Micron are investing heavily in NAND and DRAM. The SanDisk Pro Research Report sets out the long-term contract coverage, the full bull and bear case, and the SWOT analysis.

Finding Capital-Efficient Cash Flow Across Tech

SanDisk’s numbers make for a strong bullish case: an 84.6% non-GAAP gross margin and a 56% adjusted free cash flow margin in the fiscal fourth quarter, plus 41.6% upside to Fair Value, even with that consumer weakness and customer concentration still on the risk list.

It is also just one opportunity in technology.
