Crypto stocks surge as bitcoin reaches three-month peak
U.S.-listed cryptocurrency stocks rose Thursday as bitcoin climbed to its highest level in three months.
Bitcoin, the world’s largest cryptocurrency, increased 4.8% to $81,105.73.
Crypto exchange Coinbase Global (NASDAQ:COIN) jumped 10.6%, while bitcoin-focused company Strategy (NASDAQ:MSTR) gained 15%.
Trading platform Robinhood Markets (NASDAQ:HOOD) rose 16.3%, and Webull (NYSE:BULL) added 12%.
Bitcoin has rallied in recent weeks after U.S. President Donald Trump urged Congress to pass a crypto bill. The cryptocurrency received additional support from the Treasury Department’s move to support long-dated bonds.
Cryptocurrency mining companies also posted gains. Riot Platforms (NASDAQ:RIOT) climbed 11.4%, Mara Holdings (NASDAQ:MARA) rose 10%, and Bit Digital (NASDAQ:BTBT) increased 15.8%.
Shares of American Bitcoin (NASDAQ:ABTC), backed by two eldest sons of President Trump, surged 18.4%.
Stablecoin issuer Circle Internet (NYSE:CRCL) gained 15.8%, while bitcoin mining machine maker Canaan (NASDAQ:CAN) jumped 23.4%.
