Mom dies trying to save her children who were swept away snorkeling in Bahamas on cruise stop
A 36-year-old British mother drowned in the Bahamas while saving her two children from a strong current during a cruise snorkeling trip.
A doting mother drowned after desperately trying to rescue her two children, who were swept away by a strong current while snorkeling in the Bahamas, according to a report.
The 36-year-old unidentified British woman was on a snorkeling expedition with her husband and two sons south of the island of Bimini when the tragedy occurred on Tuesday, The Telegraph reported.
The children were moved by a strong current — so the mom rushed to save them, but was swept away herself, a spokesman for the Royal Bahamas Police Force told the outlet.

Rescuers pulled her from the water and performed CPR at a ferry dock, but the woman died at the hospital, the spokesperson said.
“Officers responded and, upon arrival, learned that the woman had been transported to the local clinic for medical attention, where she was subsequently pronounced dead by a local doctor despite efforts to save her life,” the statement continued.

Her sons were rescued from the water and foul play is not suspected.
The deadly incident marked the fourth time people had died in the waters off Bimini in the past two years.
Two of the victims were snorkelers, according to the outlet.=
