Why is Nebius stock rallying today?

Nebius Group stock climbed 4.4% in morning trading after the company and Palantir Technologies jointly announced a strategic partnership that names Nebius as Palantir’s preferred sovereign AI infrastructure provider, integrating Nebius’s purpose-built compute and inference technology directly inside Palantir’s enterprise security perimeter for commercial customers. The arrangement means eligible Palantir clients will be able to run and fine-tune AI models on Nebius infrastructure while retaining full control over their compute resources, data, and proprietary models — a capability that has been largely unavailable through general-purpose cloud providers. Palantir co-founder and CEO Alex Karp framed the deal in terms of customer sovereignty, stating that "Nebius’ compute infrastructure powers your ability to run your own AI models under conditions you control."

The partnership also carries a capacity-expansion component, with both companies committing to accelerate the deployment of new AI compute through modular data-center installations at sites where power is already available — addressing one of the sector’s most acute bottlenecks. For Nebius, the arrangement taps directly into Palantir’s established enterprise and government customer relationships, creating an incremental revenue stream for its rapidly scaling GPU infrastructure. The deal also complements Nebius’s existing strategic alliance with NVIDIA and arrives on the heels of strong financial momentum, with the company having reported a 454% year-over-year revenue surge in Q2 2026.

The broader U.S. equity market is providing no tailwind today — the first session back from the Labor Day holiday — with the S&P 500 down 0.2%, the Nasdaq slipping 0.2%, and the Dow Jones declining 0.8%, as investors weigh a hotter-than-expected August jobs report that has raised the prospect of further Federal Reserve rate action. Against that backdrop, Nebius’s gain stands out sharply within the neocloud sector, as peers CoreWeave and IREN are not driving today’s move for the stock.

The combination of a high-profile enterprise partnership with one of the most recognized names in AI software, a clear commercial pathway for Nebius’s GPU infrastructure, and supportive underlying business fundamentals has given investors a concrete reason to bid shares higher even as the broader tape struggles, pushing NBIS as high as $242.82 intraday and well above its opening price of $234.61.
