Why is MAAS Group stock sliding today?

MAAS Group Holdings stock is slumped 10.6% to A$4.14 on Monday, extending losses after the collapse of the Firmus Grid Limited IPO, to which Maas was heavily exposed.

Maas wiped out some 30% last week after Firmus canceled a $5 billion IPO due to sluggish investor demand.

The core concern for investors is twofold. Maas holds approximately 3.2% of Firmus, acquired during calendar year 2026 at an average cost of around A$188 per share (or roughly A$3.76 adjusting for a planned 50:1 share split), a position that was expected to gain a clear market valuation upon Firmus’s public listing but is now stranded in a private investment with an indefinite liquidity horizon.

Beyond the equity stake, MGH’s subsidiary JLE Group carries an electrical order book of AU$1.2 billion tied to Firmus manufacturing contracts, and with Firmus now pivoting to private capital markets, questions have emerged around the durability of that work pipeline and Firmus’s ability to fund ongoing operations.

Broader Australian markets advanced on Monday, with the ASX 200 up 0.8%.
