Why is Check Point Software stock rallying today?

Check Point Software Technologies stock is rallying 3.2% in mid-day trading to reach $156.90, driven by a sector-wide surge in cybersecurity names after Morgan Stanley published a note projecting a meaningful acceleration in enterprise security spending, a catalyst that lifted the group broadly on October 22 and continued to carry momentum into today’s session. The stock touched a session high of $157.90, its strongest intraday level in recent weeks, as buyers stepped in across the cybersecurity space.

A second, independent catalyst reinforced the move: two critical PHP vulnerabilities disclosed this week — affecting the programming language used by roughly 70% of websites worldwide — could allow hackers to take control of affected servers remotely.

On October 22, several cybersecurity stocks extended gains, with Palo Alto Networks rising over 3%, Check Point Software climbing more than 2%, and peers including Gen Digital and Cloudflare also advancing, a move that has carried over into today’s session. Adding to the tailwind, UBS analyst Roger Boyd raised the firm’s price target on Check Point to $145 from $135, while maintaining a Neutral rating, and Mizuho made an identical adjustment around the same time, signaling that analysts are incrementally more constructive on the name ahead of its upcoming earnings report.

Check Point Software Technologies will release its third-quarter 2026 financial results on November 2, 2026, before U.S. markets open, and pre-earnings positioning appears to be contributing to today’s buying interest. Emerging products such as email security, CTEM, SASE, and AI security have been reporting more than 40% ARR growth and 35% to 45% billing growth in early 2026, a narrative that is helping restore investor confidence in the company’s growth trajectory after a difficult year.

The broader market is providing little assistance, with the S&P 500 down 0.3% and the Dow Jones off 1.0%, while the NASDAQ is essentially flat, meaning CHKP’s outperformance is clearly sector- and company-driven rather than a function of macro tailwinds. The stock has declined roughly 28% over the past year, leaving it trading well below its 52-week high of $210.66, which has attracted value-oriented investors who view the current price as a potential discount to intrinsic worth. Together, the Morgan Stanley spending outlook, analyst target increases, and pre-earnings optimism around AI security product momentum have converged to produce today’s notable move higher.
