Why is Bloom Energy stock sliding today?

Bloom Energy stock is sliding 6.7% in morning trading today to reach $261.69, after the company officially announced this morning that it will release its third-quarter 2026 financial results on October 22, 2026, after market close. The confirmation of the upcoming earnings date has accelerated pre-earnings repositioning, with investors locking in gains ahead of a report that carries high expectations given the record-breaking Q2 results — which included $1.065 billion in revenue and a doubling of full-year guidance.

The move is also weighed down by the unresolved Project Jupiter overhang. Oracle’s invocation of a force majeure clause on the massive New Mexico AI data center campus — a project designed to rely heavily on Bloom’s solid oxide fuel cell systems — first rattled the stock in late September and has continued to cloud the near-term revenue outlook, as any delay to that deployment could push back the timing of associated fuel-cell installations and revenue recognition.

Valuation concerns add a third layer of pressure. The stock is trading at a significant premium to consensus analyst price targets, and with the NASDAQ slipping 0.3% and the S&P 500 essentially flat today, there is no broad market tailwind to offset the selling. High-beta growth names like Bloom — which carries a beta above 3.7 — tend to underperform in mixed or risk-off sessions, particularly when company-specific uncertainty is elevated ahead of a key earnings catalyst.

Together, the earnings date announcement, the lingering Project Jupiter concentration risk, and stretched valuation metrics have combined to push Bloom Energy sharply lower today, even as the company’s underlying business fundamentals — including record revenue growth and expanding manufacturing capacity — remain intact heading into the Q3 report.
