Why is Beiersdorf stock sliding today?

Beiersdorf stock fell 4.1% to trade at €79.69 after the company released its third-quarter 2026 revenue statement, revealing that group net sales reached approximately €2.4 billion — a nominal gain of just 0.4% but an organic decline of 1.3% once currency and portfolio effects are stripped out.

The headline figure was broadly in line with the analyst consensus of around €2.38 billion, yet the absence of any positive surprise was enough to push shares sharply lower.

The key drag within the report was NIVEA, the company’s core consumer brand, which posted a 4.9% organic sales decline in Q3, hurt by trade-related tensions and ongoing inventory destocking among Western European retailers.

The Derma segment — anchored by Eucerin and Aquaphor — continued to outperform with 10.6% organic growth, but its relative size was insufficient to compensate for NIVEA’s weakness.

For the first nine months of 2026, group organic sales were down 2.8% year-over-year, deepening the narrative of a company struggling to stabilize its most important franchise.

Beiersdorf confirmed its previously lowered full-year 2026 guidance, calling for a low single-digit organic revenue decline and an adjusted EBIT margin of at least 11.8% — a significant step down from the 14.0% margin posted in 2025.

This confirmation provided no relief for investors who had hoped the Q3 update might prompt a guidance upgrade. Adding to the pressure, the stock had already been weighed down by bearish analyst stances from Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank Research, both carrying Sell ratings heading into the report.

The broader market offered little counterbalance, with U.S. indices essentially flat on the day. Today’s move was squarely company-specific: a Q3 print that confirmed the NIVEA recovery has yet to materialize, a guidance floor that signals continued margin compression, and a stock already trading roughly 28% below its 52-week high of €110.15 — all combining to extend Beiersdorf’s difficult year.
