U.S. stocks higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.69%
U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Industrials and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.69% to hit a new 1-month high, while the S&P 500 index added 0.59%, and the NASDAQ Composite index gained 1.05%.
The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were International Business Machines (NYSE:IBM), which rose 3.96% or 9.57 points to trade at 251.49 at the close. Meanwhile, NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) added 2.54% or 5.50 points to end at 221.97 and Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:GS) was up 2.25% or 19.91 points to 904.72 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:VZ), which fell 2.20% or 0.98 points to trade at 43.56 at the close. Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG) declined 1.56% or 2.48 points to end at 156.84 and Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE) was down 0.94% or 0.36 points to 37.53.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Skydance Corporation (NYSE:SKYD) which rose 10.85% to 7.87, Super Micro Computer Inc (NASDAQ:SMCI) which was up 9.55% to settle at 35.57 and Charles River Laboratories International, Inc (NYSE:CRL) which gained 9.33% to close at 344.87.
The worst performers were AT&T Inc (NYSE:T) which was down 6.45% to 21.91 in late trade, DexCom Inc (NASDAQ:DXCM) which lost 6.39% to settle at 80.26 and Netflix Inc (NASDAQ:NFLX) which was down 5.31% to 65.05 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were SHF Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:SHFS) which rose 71.52% to 0.15, Springview Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:SPHL) which was up 53.04% to settle at 3.52 and TEN Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:XHLD) which gained 52.46% to close at 0.91.
The worst performers were Robin Energy Ltd (NASDAQ:RBNE) which was down 41.80% to 0.23 in late trade, Peraso Inc (NASDAQ:PRSO) which lost 33.33% to settle at 0.39 and Creative Media & Community Trust Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCT) which was down 28.32% to 4.10 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1361 to 1347 and 89 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1741 rose and 1645 declined, while 213 ended unchanged.
Shares in Charles River Laboratories International, Inc (NYSE:CRL) rose to 3-years highs; rising 9.33% or 29.42 to 344.87. Shares in Netflix Inc (NASDAQ:NFLX) fell to 52-week lows; falling 5.31% or 3.65 to 65.05. Shares in Robin Energy Ltd (NASDAQ:RBNE) fell to all time lows; down 41.80% or 0.17 to 0.23.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 3.64% to 16.68.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.03% or 1.15 to $4,151.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.50% or 0.49 to hit $97.64 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.69% or 0.75 to trade at $109.57 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.04% to 1.12, while USD/JPY fell 0.02% to 158.15.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 101.52.
