U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Industrial Metals & Mining and General Retailers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.07%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Next PLC (LON:NXT), which rose 5.74% or 850.00 points to trade at 15,660.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 4.49% or 118.00 points to end at 2,747.00 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) was up 4.12% or 22.70 points to 573.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Prudential PLC (LON:PRU), which fell 6.39% or 70.00 points to trade at 1,025.00 at the close. HSBC Holdings PLC (LON:HSBA) declined 4.67% or 74.00 points to end at 1,510.60 and Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV) was down 4.01% or 11.40 points to 272.60.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1002 to 721 and 531 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 3.41% or 141.55 to $4,294.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.21% or 0.16 to hit $75.61 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.32% or 0.25 to trade at $79.61 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.35, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 99.61.
