Taiwan stocks higher at close of trade; Taiwan Weighted up 0.30%

Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Plastic, Chemical and Optoelectronic sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.30%.

The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Grand Pacific Petrochemical Corp (TW:1312), which rose 10.00% or 1.30 points to trade at 14.30 at the close. Meanwhile, AMAX Holding Co Ltd (TW:6933) added 10.00% or 21.50 points to end at 236.50 and Zhong Yang Technology Co Ltd (TW:6668) was up 9.99% or 3.90 points to 42.95 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Formosan Union Chemical Corp (TW:1709), which fell 7.95% or 2.95 points to trade at 34.15 at the close. Lung Ming Green Energy Technology Engineering Co Ltd (TW:3018) declined 6.98% or 0.90 points to end at 12.00 and Elite Material Co Ltd (TW:2383) was down 6.70% or 395.00 points to 5,500.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 515 to 495 and 110 ended unchanged.

Shares in AMAX Holding Co Ltd (TW:6933) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 10.00% or 21.50 to 236.50.

Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.99% or 0.81 to $81.42 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.87% or 0.76 to hit $86.18 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.17% or 7.94 to trade at $4,661.24 a troy ounce.

USD/TWD was down 0.31% to 31.77, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.38% to 0.21.

The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 99.09.
