Street calls of the week: Sep 28 to Oct 2, 2026
This week’s calls leaned toward valuation discipline. Analysts trimmed winners after big runs and cut growth stories that stalled. One upgrade or downgrade per day was selected, favoring the biggest reported share-price reaction. Maintains and price-target-only changes were excluded. Moves come from the cited articles and are mostly intraday, so treat them as snapshots, not closing figures.
Monday, Sep 28: Credit worries hit FS KKR
Wells Fargo cut FS KKR Capital (FSK) to Underweight from Equal Weight with a $10 price target. The stock traded at $11.16 when the note landed. The analyst pointed to $897 million of non-accrual exposure at cost and said the revolving door of troubled loans has outpaced peers. The 15.77% dividend yield, in the firm’s view, does not pay enough for that credit risk. Fitch’s cut to BB+ in April adds to the pressure on funding costs.
Monday was thin on rating changes with a quantified price reaction. This was the only clear downgrade found, and no reported percentage move was available. (Sep 29, 2026)
Tuesday, Sep 29: STAAR Surgical rises on China optimism
Stifel upgraded STAAR Surgical (STAA) to Buy from Hold and raised its target to $31 from $28. Shares rallied 7% in early trade. Stifel expects a shift toward higher-priced EVO+ lenses in China and easier year-over-year comparisons elsewhere. It models an 11% revenue CAGR through 2028, against consensus near 8%.
Tuesday also brought sharper pain elsewhere. Monday.com (MNDY) fell after a JPMorgan downgrade, but the article gave no percentage drop. That is why STAAR’s confirmed 7% move takes the slot. (Sep 29, 2026)
Wednesday, Sep 30: Commerzbank loses a bull
Deutsche Bank downgraded Commerzbank (CBKG) to Hold from Buy and kept its €42 target. The stock had closed at €42.38, so the target implied no upside. Shares fell more than 2%. Analyst Benjamin Goy said the catalysts behind the rally, including higher net interest income and buybacks, are now priced in. Uncertainty over a possible UniCredit move on the lender also caps further valuation gains.
Barclays also downgraded Mobileye (MBLY) that day, but no share-price move was reported. (Sep 30, 2026)
Thursday, Oct 1: Foghorn falls sharply
Citizens downgraded Foghorn Therapeutics (FHTX) to Market Perform from Market Outperform. Foghorn and Eli Lilly had ended work on FHD-909, a SMARCA2-selective inhibitor, after weak efficacy signals. Shares dropped to $2.88 from a $3.52 close, an 18.2% slide and the biggest reaction of the week among the calls found.
Citizens sees no near-term catalysts left in the remaining assets. The stock trades at a 26% premium to $168 million of cash, which the firm calls fair value. The same day, UBS cut Ormat Technologies (ORA) to Neutral, and the stock fell 3.4%. (Oct 1, 2026)
Friday, Oct 2: Gurit gives back gains after a quadrupling
UBS downgraded Gurit Holding (GURN) to Neutral from Buy. Shares slid 11.5% to CHF50.8 while other Swiss industrials rose. UBS raised its target to CHF57 from CHF49 but said the stock had quadrupled since January 2026 and looked fully valued. About 55% of sales come from wind materials, where growth could slow into 2027.
Friday had other candidates. Meitu fell 4.2% after a Goldman Sachs downgrade, and BofA cut Fair Isaac (FICO) to Neutral with a $700 target, but no reported percentage move was found for Fair Isaac. (Oct 2, 2026)
The week’s pattern
Three of the five picks were valuation downgrades after big runs or sharp slowdowns. Foghorn was driven by a failed drug and Gurit by a stock that had run too far. Even a modest cut can sting when the stock has already priced in perfection. The week’s own roundup framed it as rally fatigue, with downgrades hitting winners and upgrades going to beaten-down names. (Oct 2, 2026)
