Russia stocks lower at close of trade; MOEX Russia Index down 0.34%

Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Power, Mining and Manufacturing sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index declined 0.34%.

The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were Federal Hydro Generating Company RusHydro PJSC (MCX:HYDR), which rose 3.70% or 0.01 points to trade at 0.36 at the close. Meanwhile, GMK Noril’skiy Nikel’ PAO (MCX:GMKN) added 2.91% or 3.70 points to end at 129.30 and Novolipetsk Steel (MCX:NLMK) was up 2.80% or 1.94 points to 71.30 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were ROSSETI PJSC (MCX:FEES), which unchanged 1.63% or 0.00 points to trade at 0.05 at the close. Moskovskiy Kreditnyi Bank PAO (MCX:CBOM) declined 1.06% or 0.10 points to end at 9.55 and Mobil’nye Telesistemy PJSC (MCX:MTSS) was up 0.16% or 0.30 points to 184.65.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 158 to 80 and 17 ended unchanged.

The Russian Volatility Index – RVI, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was down 9.52% to 41.52.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.86% or 37.90 to $4,434.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.45% or 0.41 to hit $90.63 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.07% or 0.07 to trade at $95.32 a barrel.

USD/RUB was unchanged 0.00% to 87.65, while EUR/RUB unchanged 0.00% to 101.06.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 99.53.
