The meeting was convened by the Pentagon’s second-ranking official following what sources described as an angry call from Trump.

Several reports this week showed U.S. officials fretting over a sharp decline in weapon stockpiles due to the Iran war.

Trump was seen clashing with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over the munitions shortages, which could limit military options with Iran, The Washington Post reported earlier on Wednesday.

Trump said over the weekend he had canceled a major strike against Iran, with hostilities in the Middle East appearing to have paused this week.
