Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.57%

Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 0.57%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV:VOLARA), which rose 2.85% or 0.31 points to trade at 11.17 at the close. Meanwhile, Regional SAB de CV (BMV:RA) added 2.60% or 3.60 points to end at 141.83 and Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (BMV:OMAB) was up 2.50% or 5.19 points to 212.75 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Megacable Holdings, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:MEGACPO), which fell 2.44% or 1.29 points to trade at 51.56 at the close. Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (BMV:LABB) declined 2.05% or 0.27 points to end at 12.89 and Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:GCARSOA1) was down 1.39% or 1.94 points to 137.89.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 134 to 98 and 15 ended unchanged.

Shares in Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (BMV:LABB) fell to 52-week lows; falling 2.05% or 0.27 to 12.89.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.86% or 37.90 to $4,434.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.45% or 0.41 to hit $90.63 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.10% or 0.10 to trade at $95.35 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.11% to 16.98, while EUR/MXN rose 0.13% to 19.68.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 99.53.
