Home BancShares stock rises on expanded buyback program

Home BancShares Inc (NYSE:HOMB) shares rose 2.5% in after-hours trading Wednesday following the company's announcement of an expanded share repurchase program.

The Conway, Arkansas-based bank holding company said its Board of Directors increased the number of shares authorized for repurchase to 20,000,000 shares on October 16, 2026. The move added 6,549,877 shares to the existing authorization, which had approximately 13,450,123 shares remaining as of that date.

The repurchase program was originally approved by the Board in January 2008 and was most recently amended in January 2025. Since the program's inception, Home BancShares has repurchased 33,057,384 shares of common stock for an aggregate purchase price of $701.8 million.

The Board also declared a regular quarterly cash dividend of $0.23 per share, payable December 2, 2026, to shareholders of record as of November 11, 2026. The dividend matches the amount paid in the third quarter of 2026 and marks the company's 82nd consecutive quarterly cash dividend since its initial public offering.

Chairman John Allison said the company's strong earnings and capital position enable continued share repurchases, which he described as a highly effective way to increase shareholder value. He noted that the Board increased the dividend by $0.02, or 9.5%, per share in the third quarter this year and will review the amount again next year.

Home BancShares is the parent company of Centennial Bank, which operates branch locations in Arkansas, Florida, Texas, Tennessee, South Alabama and New York City.
