Deutsche Bank starts Climb Bio at Buy, citing compelling autoimmune pipeline
Climb Bio Inc (NASDAQ:CLYM) shares rallied over 10% in Tuesday morning trading following a bullish initiation from Deutsche Bank, which highlighted the clinical-stage biotech's autoimmune pipeline and attractive entry valuation. The firm assigned a Buy rating and a $28 price target, pointing to the company's lead asset as a key driver for future growth.
Deutsche Bank analyst David Hoang emphasized that Climb Bio's current valuation offers an appealing entry point after a month-long pullback, which he attributed primarily to broader sector-wide pressure rather than company-specific fundamentals. The market is underestimating the commercial potential Climb Bio's pipeline, the analyst said, creating a compelling risk-reward profile for investors at current levels.
The core thesis centers on CLYM116, a licensed APRIL inhibitor targeting IgA nephropathy that Deutsche Bank views as a potential best-in-class therapy in a rapidly expanding market. The firm also noted unpriced upside from budoprutug, an anti-CD19 therapy pursuing multiple B cell-mediated disorders including membranous nephropathy, immune thrombocytopenia, and systemic lupus erythematosus.
Investors face a catalyst-dense 12-month horizon, beginning with at least four incremental clinical updates anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2026. Presentation highlights include kidney disease data at ASN Kidney Week in October, followed by hematology and lupus updates at the ASH conference in December.
Looking further ahead, mid-2027 Phase 2 trial results for CLYM116 are expected to serve as the major primary inflection point for the stock. That readout aims to establish a biweekly dosing regimen, which could solidify the drug's competitive positioning in the IgA nephropathy landscape.
