CDC deputy director to leave Trump admin after midterms, Post reports
Jennifer Shuford, the deputy director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will leave the Trump administration after next week’s midterm elections, the Washington Post reported Monday.
The departure comes amid a looming shift in the government’s vaccine policy. President Donald Trump announced plans to require vaccine makers to divide certain childhood shots into five separate doses.
The Washington Post said the reason for Shuford’s departure was unclear. One person cited a family health issue as the cause, while another person said she disagreed with the administration’s approach to vaccine policy, according to the report.
