Questions Answered

  • Does the new AI model deliver? Management said a partial rollout of the new model architecture improved advertiser performance. Core gaming growth accelerated to nearly 50% YoY. Piper Sandler estimates gaming drove about 85% of the quarter-over-quarter growth. Scotiabank said the debate has moved from "does AXON work" to "how repeatable are the gains." (Nov 5, 2026)
  • Is growth decelerating? No. Revenue grew 55% YoY. Wedbush noted revenue ran about 5% above the high end of guidance. (Nov 5, 2026)
  • Are margins holding while it invests outside gaming? Yes. Adjusted EBITDA was $1.84B, an 84% margin, with 87% incremental flow-through. Piper noted incremental margins stayed steady despite non-gaming investment. (Nov 5, 2026)
  • Does the cash back the earnings? Free cash flow was $1.4B and net income was $1.44B (+72%). The board added $3.2B to the buyback authorization.
  • Is guidance credible? Q4 revenue guidance of $2.365B–$2.395B is well above the $2.25B consensus we pulled and Wedbush’s prior $2.252B estimate.

What the Street Did

FirmRatingTarget
WedbushOutperform$600 (from $560)
Goldman SachsNeutral$445 (from $400)
ScotiabankSector Outperform$450 (from $515)
Piper SandlerNeutral$355 (from $325)

Scotiabank cut its target only because it lowered its multiple to about 18x 2027 estimates. The business results were not the issue. Goldman also noted triple-digit growth in total consumer business spend. Piper described buy-side sentiment as largely negative going in, which helps explain the squeeze.

Next Catalysts

  1. Q4 print, Feb 17, 2027 (tentative). Consensus is EPS $4.40 and revenue $2.25B. Guidance implies revenue well above that, so these estimates should rise. Consensus EPS was cut about 9.7% over 90 days before this report.
  2. Full rollout of the new model architecture. The Q3 gains came from a partial rollout. The test is whether growth keeps accelerating.
  3. Non-gaming and consumer expansion. Spend growth is strong, but data is still sparse. Margin dilution is the bear point.
  4. Buyback execution. The $3.2B addition could support the shares after the squeeze.
  5. Competition. Unity Software (U) surged on its own results. Analysts flagged its reinvestment of take-rate gains as a possible headwind for AppLovin.

Bull vs Bear

  • Bull: FY2026 consensus EPS is $15.69 and FY2027 is $19.68. At $347.73, the stock trades at roughly 18x FY2027 EPS. Wedbush says it trades at about 10x FY2028 EBITDA.
  • Bear: Two of the last four prints sold off hard despite beats, so volatility cuts both ways. A repeat of the gaming acceleration is not guaranteed. A +36% move over one week also raises the bar for February.
