Anthropic partners with Plaid for AI financial advice tool
Anthropic PBC will integrate Plaid's consumer finance network into its Claude artificial intelligence model to offer personalized financial guidance to users.
US consumers can connect their financial account information through Plaid to Claude's personal finance product starting Thursday, the company said in a statement. The integration allows the AI platform to access actual user data to provide personalized responses, moving beyond the general financial advice currently available.
Claude will have read-only access to consumer data through the partnership, which means it cannot move money between accounts. The arrangement mirrors Anthropic's previous collaboration with OpenAI in May.
The new personal finance feature will not include advertisements or sponsored recommendations, Anthropic said in a blog post.
Financial institutions are responding to the growing role of AI platforms in providing financial advice. Charles Schwab Corp. (NYSE:SCHW) said it blocks personal agents that can complete financial tasks independently. The firm has developed its own AI assistant to help customers access insights using the company's internal sources.
