Summary

Houthi fighters took the Red Sea port of Mocha on September 10 and crossed to Mayun Island, in the middle of the Bab al-Mandeb strait, on September 11; on September 18 Yemeni government forces retook the Kahboub heights on the Yemeni mainland overlooking the roads to the strait. Drones launched from Iraq struck Saudi Arabia’s East–West crude pipeline on September 10, and Saudi Aramco suspended crude loadings at Yanbu, the pipeline’s Red Sea terminus, on September 15 — Brent settled near $108, its highest since May. The UK P&I Club’s Red Sea war-risk exclusion becomes a permanent term of its charterer’s liability cover at noon GMT on September 25, and the Joint War Committee’s September 16 notice left its Red Sea listed area unchanged.
